Online Homeschooling in Idaho

Homeschooling in Idaho reaches over 10% of families, with a 25% increase in recent years. The state’s requirements for homeschooling are relaxed, and parents do not have to maintain any special certifications or educational requirements.

You are also not required to test your child, but you do have to teach classes that are common in the state’s public school system, such as:

• Grade 1 – 10 students must take classes in math, science, language arts and social studies.
• Grade 11 – 12 students have more flexibility in the subjects that they learn

If a child is in public school and is going into homeschooling, parents should contact the school to let administrators know that the child will no longer be attending the school. You may have to fill out a form to withdraw the child.

Since Idaho doesn’t have a state diploma for graduating high school, students will not receive their diplomas upon graduation.
