Northgate Academy and Military Eligibility
Northgate Academy is recognized as a Tier 1 high school, which places us on the same footing as traditional public high schools for military enlistment purposes. The designation means the U.S. Military treats a Northgate Academy diploma as meeting its educational standard, so our graduates are considered for enlistment alongside students from public schools. Earning a Tier 1 diploma from Northgate Academy is a meaningful step toward qualifying for a career in the Armed Forces.
Educational Requirements for Enlistment
To be eligible for military enlistment as a Northgate Academy student, you must meet two requirements:
- 90-Day Enrollment Requirement: Full-time and part-time students must be enrolled at Northgate Academy for at least 90 days, one full semester, to satisfy military guidelines on attendance and stability.
- Diploma Requirements: Alongside the attendance requirement, students must complete either the 21-credit Standard High School Diploma or the 24-credit College Prep Diploma to qualify for enlistment.
Together these milestones satisfy the military’s standards for high school graduation and preparedness.
AFQT and Tier 1 Enlistment Priority
The Armed Forces Qualification Test (AFQT) is a central part of the enlistment process. A score of 50 or above earns Tier 1 enlistment priority, which improves your chances of securing a position in the branch you want. Preparing thoroughly for the AFQT demonstrates both your academic ability and your readiness for the demands of military life.
