Northgate Academy and Military Eligibility

This designation means that graduates from Northgate Academy l are considered for enlistment on equal footing with students from public schools, meeting the U.S. Military’s requirements for educational standards. With a Tier 1 diploma from Northgate , you are taking an important step toward qualifying for a career in the Armed Forces.
Educational Requirements for Enlistment
To be eligible for military enlistment as an Northgate Academy student, there are specific requirements you must meet:
-
90-Day Enrollment Requirement: Full-time and part-time students must be enrolled at Excel for a minimum of 90 days (one full semester) to satisfy military guidelines for attendance and stability.
-
Diploma Requirements: In addition to meeting the attendance requirement, students must complete either the 21-credit Standard High School Diploma or the 24-credit College Prep Diploma to qualify for enlistment.
These educational milestones ensure that you meet the military’s standards for high school graduation and preparedness.
AFQT and Tier 1 Enlistment Priority
The Armed Forces Qualification Test (AFQT) is a critical part of the enlistment process. Students who score 50 or above on the AFQT will receive Tier 1 enlistment priority, which improves your chances of securing a position in the branch of your choice. Preparing well for this test will not only demonstrate your academic ability but also your readiness for the challenges of military life.
Importance of Stability and Commitment
The military highly values students who show stability, discipline, and a long-term commitment to their education. For this reason, fast-track diplomas or equivalency credentials may not meet the military’s enlistment expectations. To prove you have the dedication required to succeed in the Armed Forces, completing a full high school diploma program through Excel High School is the best path forward. This commitment demonstrates your readiness for the responsibilities and challenges of military service.
Disclaimer: Additional Factors Affecting Military Enlistment
While completing your high school diploma at Northgate Academy is an important requirement for military enlistment, it does not guarantee acceptance into any branch of the U.S. Armed Forces. Enlistment eligibility is determined by a combination of factors, including but not limited to your ASVAB test scores, recruiter interviews, pre-enlistment physicals, and academic history. Each of these elements will be thoroughly reviewed by military personnel during the recruitment process, and meeting all requirements is essential for enlistment consideration.
