If you want your Christian faith to be at the core of your child’s education, you have a lot of choices to decide between. But if you want them to graduate from an accredited online school, then your choices become a bit narrower.
Northgate Academy is a part of Excel Education Systems Independent School System. As a school district, they started their work in online education in 2004 when a group of educators and business professionals saw a need for a high-quality online accredited diploma that could be earned around the globe. As a faith-based school, along with our focus on making sure your child is earning an accredited diploma, our priority is to help you “train up a child in the way he should go.”
We would like to be a part of your child’s academic and faith journey, so as you consider your options for online Christian education, here are a few things that make NGA unique!
Mission Statement
Northgate Academy is a Christian learning community in the tradition of evangelical college preparatory high school. Our mission reflects the values that you would expect from a Christian school:
“The mission of Northgate Academy is to raise up the next generation of Christian leaders, through the training and nurturing of students in their spiritual, academic, emotional, and social development. This is realized through delivering a Christ-centered education, founded on biblical truth, which leads to the development of a world-view that will greater impact the world for Christ.”
Statement of Faith
In addition to our mission statement, we were called to develop a statement of faith to help families and students understand the Christian values at the heart of our service to them:
“We believe that there is one living and true God, eternally existing in three persons – God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ), and God the Holy Spirit.
The Bible is our all-sufficient rule for faith and practice. This Statement of Fundamental Truths is intended simply as a basis of fellowship among us (i.e., that we all speak the same thing, 1 Corinthians 1:10; Acts 2:42).
We believe that the Bible is the Word of God, which consists of sixty-six books. We believe the Word of God was written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit without error in the original manuscripts and has supreme and final authority in all matters of faith and conduct. (II Timothy 3:16; II Peter 1:20-21)
We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory. Matthew 1:23; John 1:1-4 and 1:29; Acts 1:11 and 2:22-24; Romans 8:34; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Philippians 2:5-11; Hebrews 1:1-4 and 4:15.
We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost. Those that are saved unto the resurrection of eternal life in heaven, and those that are lost unto the resurrection of eternal damnation in a literal hell. We believe in the imminent, pre-Tribulation return of Jesus Christ for all believers. The Rapture of the saints will be followed by a seven-year Tribulation, after which, Christ will return in glory to judge the world and set up His millennial reign on earth.

Accreditation
Accreditation is what makes a student’s diploma valuable for them when they want to use it for post-secondary education, work, or the military. Without proper accreditation, all the work your students does has the potential to end up being unusable. That’s a heartbreaking reality that we’ve seen with students who have come to us in desperate need to recover credits they thought they were earning, only to realize the institution was not properly accredited.
We are an accredited Minnesota non-public school as a part of Excel Education Systems Independent School District. You can check out our profile on the Minnesota Department of Education website as well as our accreditation profile through Cognia, the parent organization of the North Central Association CASI, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools CASI, and the Northwest Accrediting Commission.
We work to maintain this vital accreditation to provide all the opportunities to our students that their hard work deserves.
Courses
Many of our courses are taught with a specific focus on our faith-based learning. We offer all of the traditional high school level English, math, science, and social studies courses, but we also offer many different elective courses that are specific to growing your child’s faith. You can explore the course options we offer online, but all students must take Health in a Christian Perspective and can choose from a wide variety of electives including Book of Revelation, Life Management Under God, Jesus and His Followers, and Bible Doctrines, to name just a few.
Students also have the option of taking any of the courses offered throughout any of our school system’s campuses. That means that in addition to the Northgate course options, your child has the option to take any number of additional classes that you can view on the Excel High School website. That means that, in addition to faith-based courses, your child has the option to take classes like Introduction to Coding, Computer Engineering, Digital Photography, or Forensic Science. With an abundance of courses to choose from, your student is sure to find something that sparks their interest in learning and helps them narrow down the career pathway that they’d like to follow after high school.
Academic Support Team
One of the most amazing parts of our Christian school is that each student is assigned an Academic Success Coach who can guide them along through their academic experience. Both you and your student can reach out to them to plan their school year or talk about their options after graduation. Our Academic Success Team has even created Success Coach Corner, a site full of tips to help their students find success throughout their time at Northgate Academy.
Your child’s success coach’s goal is your child’s success, making them a unique asset to your child’s academic career at NGA.
