The calendar has spoken. Summer is almost here! Time for your kids to relax, lounge around the house, and stare at a few screens. If you’re like most parents, you want your kids to enjoy their time off, but you also might worry that the lack of structure and mental engagement will cause them to start next school year having lost some of the skills they gained in the previous year. And you’d be right! But what can you do about that once the school year is over?
Well, you can add a little bit of structure to their days by having them catch up with or get ahead of their credits through Northgate Academy’s online self-paced summer school courses. The flexibility of our courses means that your student can work through their class any time and any where as long as they have access to the internet. Online summer school doesn’t mean that your family has to cancel vacation time or that your child can’t go visit relatives or spend time with friends. They can even continue to work their summer jobs and explore other interests.
Because our courses are 100% online and self-paced, students can work on our classes in the morning or late at night, according to whatever schedule their natural rhythm calls for. If your student needs to make up credits, but they don’t want the hassle of waking up early to attend summer school in a traditional brick-and-mortar academic environment, they don’t have to! We offer all of the core classes your student might need: English 9-12, 6 different math courses, all of the traditional social studies options, and a selection of sciences.
Because our courses are faith-based, there’s no worry about the content working contrary to the values you and your family uphold. In fact, if you want your student to learn more about their Christian faith, we offer a variety of Bible-based electives for them to explore this summer as well, including all of the following:
- Book of Revelations,
- Bible Doctrines,
- Genesis,
- Life Management Under God,
- Jesus and His Followers, and
- Kings of Israel.
Summer is a great time for your student to get the important foundational information to explore their faith.
Another benefit of our online summer school option is that your student can move beyond the traditional school subject areas without adding pressure to their workload during the school year. We offer a variety of interesting electives to give your student a chance to explore their interests or to help them grow to be a well-rounded young person. From Family & Consumer Science to help your student understand more real-world applicable skills to Finance as a way to help them understand how to handle their money, we offer courses to help you prepare your student for adult life. Courses like Marketing or Introduction to Business can give your student a peek into possible career interests before college.
Your student can even take an online SAT prep course to get ready for that standardized test. Whether they’re a sophomore wanting to do their best the first time or a junior or senior wanting to earn a higher score, the SAT prep course is a good option for your high school student. Covering both the English and math portions of the test, they can work through the lessons independently and feel confident on the day of the test.
Online courses are a great way to add a little structure to your young person’s summer and help them stay mentally sharp for the upcoming school year. Check out our courses, and if you’re ready, you can easily enroll online.
