Homeschool Credit Transfer Process (10th-12th Grade)
Northgate Academy welcomes students transitioning from homeschool programs, including those without formal accreditation. Our process helps ensure that homeschool coursework counts toward an accredited diploma, provided specific documentation and testing requirements are met.
Students enrolling in the Adult Program are not eligible for Homeschool Credit Transfers.
Homeschool Credit Transfer Eligibility
Students wishing to transfer homeschool credits (credits from a non-accredited program} must provide the following:
- Homeschool Transcript:Please provide a transcript listing the courses, grades, and credits earned.
- Testing Fee:A fee of $50 will be charged for each test.
Important Information:
- We allow a maximum of 12 credits to be transferred from homeschool.
- We will review your homeschool transcript to see which courses are eligible.
- Only full-year courses that match our curriculum can be transferred.
- Semester-long courses or those that we don’t offer will not be accepted.
Next Steps:
After reviewing your transcript, the Homeschool Coordinator will communicate with you about the courses that are eligible for transfer. Then, you and your student can decide which courses you wish to take the test out. Any course not tested out or failed during the test out process will need to be completed through our program if needed for meeting graduation requirements.
To Begin Testing:
- Email the Homeschool Coordinator to indicate which courses your student will test out.
- A $50 fee per test will be added to your account and must be paid.
- Once payment is received, the tests will be added to your student’s online learning system (LMS).
Testing Timeline:
- 1–6 tests: 1 week to complete.
- 7–12 tests: 2 weeks to complete.
Passing the Tests:
- Students need a score of 70% or higher to pass each test.
- Students get two chances to pass each test.
- Once a test out has been passed, the transcript will be updated with the credit earned and “Passed Without Grade” (this does not affect the GPA).
After Testing:
- Email the Homeschool Coordinator when all test out exams are completed on or before the deadline date.
- Results of the exams are posted. After the deadline, the student is no longer eligible for additional Homeschool credit transfers.
- The assigned Success Coach will schedule the student’s courses to align with the credit transfers and needed graduation requirements.
Time Limit:
If testing is not complete within the first full month of enrollment, the student is no longer eligible for Homeschool credit transfers, courses will be assigned by the designated Success Coach.
Alternative Option:
Alternatively, families may choose to utilize our curriculum exclusively and graduate their student directly through their homeschool program. This option necessitates the completion of the Curriculum Use Agreement, and the student’s account will be appropriately updated to reflect this choice.

7th - 9th Grade Homeschool Transfer Requirements
For students transferring into 7th, 8th, or 9th grades from a homeschool program without the transfer of high school credits, the parent or guardian must sign the Homeschool Attestation Form indicating completion of the previous grade level. This form ensures that the student is prepared to advance to the next grade level and is able to meet the required academic competencies in all subject areas.
